Monday this week, 9/24, Connor had his 1st Dr's appointment. He did really well, although Mommy completely forgot that he'd be getting his 1yr shots and well.... I felt sooo bad!!! It just never occured to me.. slipped my mind, got everything ready, no big deal, going to the doctor... YIKES!! So he did fine overall, got his TB skin test done and did well with that, then came the actual shots -- 2 in one leg, 1 in the other.. one nurse on either side. Mommy & baby cried HARD together... as if it was all my fault that he had to get shots... I cried and hugged & kissed him after it was all done and kept saying "I'm so so so sorry!!" He was actually okay even with the poke of the needles, not until they actually injected the vaccines did he SCREAMMMMM!!!
Awwwwww... poor little guy!! AND.... drumroll please..... while we were waiting for the doctor to come in, Connor let go and stood up all by himself for the first time!!!!!! We were all but throwing a PARTY in there!!!! I was sooooo excited, proud.. clapping frantically... he just giggled & smiled. Since then he's stood unassisted numerous times (when he feels like it of course hehe). YAYYYYY!!!
Also, we went to our first playgroup on Wednesday.. FUNNNN!!! It was sooo neat!! This playgroup is for internationally adopted children & families, so it was nice to meet other adoptive families and adoptees.. all the children there are under 4yrs old... Connor & Sara (my friend Tina's daughter) were the youngest at 13 & 14 months old, but the next oldest above them was a little girl who was 16 or 17 months old. It was just so neat for him to play with other children who have also come home through adoption, and also for me to meet other adoptive Moms and chat about stuff. Connor is such a social boy.. loves being around other kids, no matter who they are, playing with them.. sometimes just watching them play.
